Cargill and Nestle, two of the world’s largest agri and food companies are already switching to regenerative agriculture in the supply chain. This low to no input, nature friendly practice sequesters carbon, regenerates the soil and allows nature to flourish. The investment to transition is high – €93 per 0.40 ha (acre) and should be supported by subsidies because of the benefit to nature, food safety, soil quality and climate. The ROI is also high,15 to 20% return on investment. Intensive farming is no longer vyable. It is destroying our health, nature, climate and our economic base. The EU should catch up with business, stop subsidizing destructive farming practice and start subsidizing regenerative agriculture, The Green Deal and more.
